BREAK ORDER
Strip the counter before the payload.
Read the number beside Spellshield before playing the hand. That number is how many incoming effects the enemy can ignore, not how many turns the shield lasts.
Use a low-value status or debuff to remove one stack when available. Team Lazerbeam specifically recommends applying statuses as a way to strip Spellshield.
If you need to attack through several stacks, use a cheap multi-hit card before the expensive payload. Each ignored hit still advances you toward an exposed target.
Check for Thorns before using damage as the opener. Current Demo text says Thorns retaliates when the enemy is damaged unless that damage is fatal; a non-damaging effect avoids spending health merely to remove a shield stack.
Prioritize Psyshrooms and other shield casters. The recorded Psyshroom can begin shielded, add another Spellshield stack, Inspire allies, and call reinforcements; the developer also warns against letting a shield caster escape and return as a veteran.
Only play the effect you actually need after the Spellshield counter reaches zero. Confirm the damage or status now appears instead of being ignored.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
The Spellshield counter falls to zero on expendable effects, then your saved attack or debuff changes the enemy's health or status as printed instead of disappearing into the shield.
VERSION BOUNDARY
The current Demo glossary and enemy extraction prove what Spellshield ignores and which Psyshroom carries it. The developer's ordering advice comes from the earlier playable build, but its status and multi-hit rules still match the current text. Exact enemy values and the best opener can change at Early Access.
