What Evolve 3 means on a card

A card says EVOLVE 3, but the game also uses Evolving for enemies.

THE SHORT ANSWER

On a card, Evolve 3 is a play counter. Each time you play that card, its Evolve value drops by one. When the counter reaches zero, the card can evolve into a new card.

EVOLVE COUNTER

Play it three times, then choose.

  1. Keep the card in your deck and play it whenever its normal effect is useful.

  2. Watch the Evolve counter tick down after each play: 3, then 2, then 1, then 0.

  3. At zero, use the evolution choice the game presents. This is separate from an enemy that evolves when its health reaches zero.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

The numbered Evolve marker reaches zero and the card changes through the game’s evolution choice instead of simply gaining a temporary combat buff.

VERSION BOUNDARY

Verified against the current demo wording and developer explanation. Early Access can change counters, evolved outcomes, or the presentation of the choice.

Ability text is tied to the recorded Demo build. “How you get it” stays cautious where a packaged shop value does not prove a guaranteed reward.

What it does
Unlocks a compatible door or chest. Its Demo record carries Evolve 3.
How you get it
The packaged Demo record lists a shop cost of 3, but that alone does not prove which reward pool will offer it in every run.
Use it with
Use it on real locks instead of holding it forever: each play advances Evolve. The evolved result still needs an in-run check.
