CURRENT BUILD CHECK
Measure the net energy change.
Read the energy number on your current Rations before using an old screenshot or comment as the rule. In the current Demo record, the play cost is 0.
Note your Explore energy, then play Rations. Its current ordered action gains 1 energy, so the pool should finish exactly one higher.
Do not add the old +2 wording on top of the current 0-cost card. That developer reply explained a previous balance state: 1 energy spent, 2 gained, net +1.
Track the card's remaining uses separately from energy. The current record carries three uses; a later use disappearing is not evidence that the energy action failed.
Ignore the unresolved ‘Draw X card’ placeholder in cached wording. The current extracted ordered action confirms Gain 1 energy but does not record a draw action, so this guide does not promise one.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
After playing the current 0-cost Rations, your Explore energy total is one point higher than it was before the play.
VERSION BOUNDARY
The current cost and gain come from Demo build 23718635; the developer reply documents an older version and explains why players historically also observed only one net energy. Early Access can rebalance the card, so recheck its printed cost and action after September 10.

Ability text is tied to the recorded Demo build. “How you get it” stays cautious where a packaged shop value does not prove a guaranteed reward.
